Media Statement WESTERN CAPE - Three suspects were caught and arrested for dealing in drugs during crime-combatting operations that were conducted by Crime Intelligence in collaboration with the K9 Unit and Anti-Gang Unit between Tuesday, 17 March and Wednesday, 18 March 2026. The members received information about a drug operation happening in Lentegeur. They followed up and searched houses in the area for drugs and firearms. In the mist of that, at around 03:30, a 29-year-old male suspect was found with 250 mandrax tablets plus a cellphone in his home at Honey Suckle Street. He was arrested and the drugs and cellphone were confiscated and handed in as exhibits. In less than two hours, at approximately 05:00, a 19-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of tik, heroin and mandrax in Aalwyn Street. He was found with 37 sachets of tik, seven heroine straws and 30 mandrax tablets which were then seized and booked in as exhibits. Both suspects will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged. In a separate incident, the members were still busy with intelligence driven operations on Wednesday, 18 March 2026 in Belhar, when a 33-year-old male suspect was found in possession of 140 sachets of cocaine and 100 sachets of tik at around 19:49. He was arrested and detained at Belhar SAPS for dealing in drugs. Once charged, he will appear at Bellville Magistrate’s Court. Ends
