Media Statement WESTERN CAPE - Ravensmead Crime Prevention Unit and Law Enforcement Housing Unit members conducted a joint operation yesterday in their endeavours to remove drugs and unlicensed firearms in the area. The members followed up on information they received about firearms and drugs that were kept at a house in Hanekom Avenue, Uitsig. Upon searching the premises, members found a 9mm pistol with ammunition and Crystal Meth. A 39-year-old man was arrested and he is due to make a court appearance tomorrow 24 January 2020 for illegal possession of firearm, ammunition and possession of drugs. In an unrelated matter, police were busy with visibility patrols at Donegal Avenue, Connaught Estate, they stopped and searched a 19-year-old man and found in his possession 55 Mandrax tablets. The suspect will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court. The SAPS management commends the dedication of the members in the fight against crime. Ends
