SUNRISE VIEW - Police are investigating a case of murder after a 27-year-old male was found burned with a trye beyond recognition in Thubelisha, Thabong. It is alleged that on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 at about 09:30 police were alerted to the discovery of a burned unknown body of a male at an open space in Thubelisha. Police responded and on arrival they found an african male wearing red track pants and he was necklaced with a burnt trye and with tyre debris scattered over his body. Preliminary investigations were conducted and revealed that the 27-year-old victim was allegedly set on fire by a group of angry community members. No arrests have been made for this gruesome act. A case of murder was registered and investigations are underway. The motive for the murder is unclear at this stage. Members of the public are sternly warned that the violent acts of vigilantism are a direct infringement on the constitutional rights of citizens and undermine the rule of law. Communities are urged to report crimes rather than take the law into heir own hands.
