EASTERN CAPE - A concerted effort in tracing suspects on the run between Nxuba and Paterson resulted in the arrest of four suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. On Sunday, 14 December 2025 at about 10:30, police who attended to a business robbery crime scene in Nxuba relayed information to the Cookhouse Highway Patrol Unit, about a get away vehicle with four male occupants believed to be in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Members responded and found an abandoned vehicle, fitting the description about 40km from Nxuba towards Cookhouse. Investigations revealed more vehicles possibly used as getaway vehicles and with the backup assistance from Paterson SAPS, members managed to block one of the vehicles on the N10 national road just after the Paterson and Addo intersection. The vehicle were searched and a loaded firearm and a replica firearm were found in hidden compartments inside the vehicle. Four occupants were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Police have also confiscated the vehicle for further investigation.
The suspects aged between 26 and 38 years are due to appear before the Magistrate’s court soon.
