GQEBERHA - Mount Road SAPS members made a significant drug bust on the evening of Wednesday, 08 April 2026, at approximately 20:29 in Woodpecker Street, Cotswold, Gqeberha. While conducting routine patrols in the area, SAPS members were flagged down by a private security company who had searched a male foreign national and allegedly found drugs in his possession. The suspect had reportedly been at a storage locker when his suspicious behaviour triggered an alarm, prompting a response from the security company. Upon noticing the arrival of SAPS members, the suspect dropped a black plastic bag and fled the scene by jumping over a high wall. He remains at large.
Police proceeded to search the storage locker as well as the discarded bag. The following items were confiscated: The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately R2 million.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are ongoing to locate the suspect.
