KING WILLIAM’S TOWN- A member of the community attached to the neighbourhood watch in Pari Park, Port Elizabeth noticed suspicious behaviour shortly after 08:00 Tuesday morning, 29 December 2015, in Glendore Road, Pari Park.

He noticed three suspects running between the bushes and a white Camray vehicle, he drove past and became suspicious of the behaviour and decided to turn around and to investigate, two of the suspects then fled on foot and the third suspect jumped into the Camray and the driver took off.  After a high speed chase the suspects drove into a cul de sac in Salisbury Park, and the member of the public blocked the vehicle in, an off duty police official staying in the area was also alerted to the chase and assisted the member from the community.  The one suspect on the passenger side jumped out and ran away, the driver got out and while he was talking to the member of the public and the off duty officer he ran away and jumped into a taxi. 

In the Camray they recovered stolen property that was linked to a house robbery that was reported during the night in Chopin street, Pari Park.  During the robbery a man and his son was tied up and the house was ransacked and they fled with clothes, cellphones, tablets,TV, computer equipement and suitcases. No one was injured during the robbery.

No arrests have been made but police investigation still continues.

The Cluster Commander Maj Gen Dawie Rabie expressed his gratitude towards the community member who went the extra mile and because of his patriotism and commitment the suspects might be identified and be arrested.  “We welcome the assistance from the community in the fight against crime” said Major General Rabie.
