Boitekong: The Platinum Belt Operation's decisive action against crime and related infringements was on display when a 20-year-old male suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm at Sondela Informal Settlement during cordon and search operation on Friday, 19 September 2014.

It is alleged that members deployed for Platinum Belt Operation got and responded to a tip-off about an illegal firearm. Upon arrival at the suspect's place, the members searched inside the shack and a 9mm pistol was found hidden underneath uncooked rice in a lunch box. The suspect was arrested and he is due to appear in Rustenburg Magistrates' Court soon.
