Media Statement from KwaZulu-Natal Media Centre In the early hours of this morning, Westville police together with the Neighbourhood Watch were conducting patrols in the Westville North area. At around 03:00, an alarm went off at Jupiter Road, Westville. The members were on high alert and saw three males running down Jupiter road, they ran into the bush in the Nature Reserve. Police gave chase and they managed to apprehend two suspects. They were found in possession of a Samsung TV, two DVD players and a sub-woofer wrapped in a black bag. Upon further investigation, it was established that the items were stolen from a house in Methven Road. The complainant woke up and noticed that the dining room curtain was open and a glass panel had been removed. The property stolen in the house was positively identified by the complainant. Two suspects, aged 21 and 27, will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court soon on charges of housebreaking and theft.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for their quick response in apprehending the suspects. “This shows that the members are always vigilant and will make sure that the suspects are brought to book,” she said. -End-
