Potchefstroom: On Tuesday, 23 February 2016, at approximately 21:00, the police in Bedwang arrested a 27-year-old suspect in Little trust for being in possession of an illegal firearm.

According to information, the police received a tip off from a local community member about the suspect who allegedly wanted to sell him the firearm.   The police responded and the suspect was found in the process of selling the firearm and was arrested. The firearm was reported to have been stolen last year during a house breaking incident that took place at Mocheko village in Bedwang.

The suspect was charged with unlawful possession of firearm and is expected to appear in the Themba Magistrates ‘Court on Thursday, 25 February 2016.
