Vryheid Stock Theft Unit arrested four suspects for stock theft and recovered nine stolen cattle. The suspects aged between 28 and 60 will appear in the Louwsburg Magistrates' Court tomorrow, 13 May 2016 facing possession of stolen property and stock theft charges.

Yesterday morning, 11 May 2016 at about 6.00 the members followed up information about suspected stolen cattle at Ngome area near Vryheid. Members of the community saw these cattle that area not known in the area but kept in a kraal at a homestead. The members proceeded to the said area and spotted nine cattle kept in a kraal. Four suspects were arrested and they failed to give satisfactory explanation. An investigation was conducted and it appeared that these cattle were stolen from his Majesty.

The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the Vryheid members for the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen cattle. “We encourage the people who are owning cattle to mark them accordingly so that it will be easy to identify them when they get lost,” she said.
