ODENDAALSRUS - A male suspect (25) was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for armed robbery.

On 27 April 2023, a 16-year-old school learner was approached by an unknown male suspect who robbed her of her cell phone at knife point.

The suspect fled and a chase ensued and was later apprehended by the community, who handed the suspect to Onderndaalsrus SAPS and was charged with robbery.

The case was assigned to Captain Teboho Makole of Odendaalsrus Detective Services and he has opposed bail since then until the accused was sentenced on 15 November 2024. 

Odendaalsrus Regional Court found the accused Tshediso Seeiso Mabalane guilty as charged and sentenced him to 15 years in jail for robbery.
