KWAZULU-NATAL - A 39-year-old man is in police custody at Amanzimtoti SAPS following his arrest for possession and dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear at the Amanzimtoti Magistrates Court today.

Police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit who continue to fulfil their mandate to eradicate the drug trade in the province arrested the suspect yesterday. The suspect was arrested at his home on Exhaphozini Road at Illovo after police recovered packages of cocaine powder, crystal meth and methcathonone that were ready for distribution. Drugs with a street value of more R200 000-00 were seized. He was charged for dealing and possession of drugs. He was also charged for contravening the Immigration Act.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Jula congratulated the police officers for the arrest and expressed his joy that drugs meant to destroy the youth of this province were removed from the streets.
