In an endeavour to bring alleged crime perpetrators to book, detectives in the province arrested 252 suspects between Tuesday, 18 and Thursday, 20 August 2020, for different crimes during provincial suspect raiding operation. In one of the arrests for murder and robbery, two suspects aged 23 and 30 are expected to appear in the Ga-rankuwa Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 August 2020. The suspects were apprehended on Thursday, 20 August 2020 for the alleged brutal murder of a 38-year-old Elizabeth Kgope. According to information received, Kgope who was visiting SASSA office in Hebron to register her one-month-old baby, was fatally stabbed by two unknown male suspects just after she alighted from the taxi in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 17 June 2020. The suspects then robbed her of her hand bag before fleeing the scene. The matter was reported at Hebron police station. Subsequent to a thorough investigation, the suspects were successfully traced and arrested in Soshanguve during the operation. The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended detectives for the arrests and indicated that operations such as this one will continue, to ensure that criminals are apprehended.
