CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Integrated Operational Team continues to make inroads on crime even in outlying communities within the Province. The team embarked on targeted operations in Atlantis and Malmesbury that resulted in eight arrests and significant confiscations on Friday evening, 04 September 2020.

In an intelligence-led search and seizure operation, the team descended on a residence in Chatsworth, Malmesbury on Friday evening where they arrested seven suspects between the ages of 18 and 49 and seized mandrax tablets and crystal meth to the value of R 4 100. An amount of R10 785 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime, was also seized. The seven suspects who are allegedly linked to organised gangs on the Cape Flats, have been charged for dealing in drugs.

Later on Friday evening the team executed another search and seizure operation in Robinvale, Atlantis where they dug up a firearm with ammunition buried in the ground. The firearm was reportedly stolen in Durbanville in 2019. A total of 300 Mandrax tablets, 38 stoppe dagga and a mobile card (speed point) device were seized during the operation and a 53-year-old man arrested. He has been charged for illegal possession of firearm, ammunition and dealing in drugs.

All arrested suspects will appear in court on Monday, 07 September 2020.

The team continued through the evening executing search warrants in other targeted areas in an effort to create safety in communities.
