News: SAPS Western Cape bids farewell to Anti-Gang Unit Head

CAPE TOWN - SAPS Western Cape management converged at the provincial office in Green Point on Friday, 29 October 2021 to bid farewell to Anti-Gang Unit Head, Major General Andre Lincoln. Major General Lincoln celebrated his 60th birthday on Thursday and goes on retirement at the end of October 2021.

In an emotional send-off, Lieutenant Colonel Brown (AGU), Brigadier Lillian Van Wyk, Major General Beaton and Lieutenant General Patekile paid tribute to Major General Lincoln.

Major General Lincoln, served for decades in various capacities within the SAPS and recently as the Winelands Cluster Commander and Anti-Gang Unit head which was launched by the President of the Republic of South Africa in November 2018.

He led a number of safety initiatives for communities in Cape Town and beyond the borders of the Western Cape. Major General Andre Lincoln, an ardent biker, also championed on an annual basis under the banner of the SAPS Men for Change, a campaign against the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide during 16 days of activism. He and other bikers, would ride along different towns of the Western Cape bringing awareness on gender-based violence and femicide.

The SAPS wishes Major General Lincoln well as he commences his retirement.
