GQEBERHA - Detective officers within the Nelson Mandela Bay district conducted a special suspect raiding under Operation Vala Konke and successfully arrested 47 suspects during last night and early this morning.

The joint operation comprised of detective officers from 17 stations and specialised units. The tracing of wanted/known suspects started at 23:00 last night, 17 January 2023 until 07:00, this morning, 18 January 2023. The main focus of the operation was to search for and arrest outstanding suspects wanted on serious and violent cases.

The arrests included suspects wanted for murder, rape, vehicle hijacking, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of drugs, robbery, housebreaking, and possession of suspected stolen property as well as petty crimes.

All the arrested suspects will appear in their respective courts soon.

Nelson Mandela District Commissioner, Maj Gen Vuyisile Ncata commended the commitment and determination of the detective officers across the metro.
