NELSPRUIT - Members of the Ehlanzeni Anti-Hijacking Team have successfully intercepted and seized a consignment of counterfeit goods, leading to the arrest of two suspects on the evening of 20 March 2026. During the Operation, members received an information regarding a truck travelling from Mozambique towards Nelspruit, allegedly transporting counterfeit merchandise. Acting swiftly on this information, the team conducted patrols along the N4 route. At about 23:30, the truck that matched the description given was spotted and tactically stopped. During the search, members discovered thirty (30) boxes containing sneakers, suspected to be imitations of a well-known brand. All exhibits were seized. The estimated value of the recovered goods is R2.4 million.
The driver and his crew were subsequently arrested and charged with possession of illicit/counterfeit goods. The suspects, aged 39 and 40 respectively, are expected to appear before the Nelspruit court soon.
