GQEBERHA - The Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes and the Provincial Crime Intelligence made yet another breakthrough and arrested another two suspects for the murders of 7 people and further injuring of 3 other people in Kwanobuhle on 11 July 2023.

It is alleged that at about 19:40 on the mentioned date, three unknown males entered a yard in Mdledle Street in Kwanobuhle and shot and killed 6 people and further injuring 4 others. A week later, another victim succumbed to his injuries while in hospital thus bringing the total number of deceased to 7. The incident is suspected to be drug related

The investigating team with Crime Intelligence received information that two suspects are hiding out in Bloemfontein. The information was immediately operationalised and with the assistance of the Free State Crime Intelligence and Bloemfontein Tactical Response Team, the suspects aged 18 and 24 years old were arrested at a house in Heidedal on Friday afternoon, 11 August 2023.

Rivaldo Baartman(18) and Shane Arends (24) appeared in the Gqeberha Regional court this morning,14 August 2023 on charges of murder (7 counts) and attempted murder (3 counts). The case is remanded to 25 August 2023 where they will again appear with the other five suspects.
